Tips For Shopping For A New Mattress

Blog

When it comes to buying furniture, few pieces are as important as your mattress. You spend a lot of time in your mattress, and getting a good night of rest is essential for your health and well being. If you're planning on replacing your current mattress, it is well worth your time to carefully shop for a new one. Quality mattresses are not cheap, so the last thing you want to do is spend your hard-earned money on a mattress that is not comfortable or causes back pain. Use the following tips to help you shop for a new mattress:

Watch for Sales

It is natural to want to get the best bang for your buck when buying something, and that includes mattresses. If you don't need to replace your current mattress right away, you may want to seriously consider waiting to shop until there is a mattress sale. Most furniture stores and mattress stores have multiple sales a year, and the savings during sales events can be substantial. In many cases mattress sales are very common around holidays, so keep your eyes open for flyers and announcements on websites and social media advertising sales at your local furniture and mattress stores.

Shop in Person

Over the past few years, a number of online retailers have begun selling mattresses. While buying a mattress online has become more popular, it is still in your best interest to shop for a mattress in person. Everyone has their own preference when it comes to mattresses—some like sleeping on a firm mattress, while others prefer a very plush mattress. Thus, the only way to ensure that you buy the right mattress is by shopping in person and testing out multiple mattresses. When you shop in person, you will be able to lie down on different mattresses to see which one you like best.

Understand the Trial Period

Many mattress retailers offer a trial period for their customers. The trial period is the time where you can try out the mattress in your home and then return it if it is not working out for you. In most cases, you will have to keep the bed for a set amount of time, such as 21 or 30 days, since it can take time to get used to sleeping on a new mattress. If you still don't like your mattress, you will be able to return it before the end of the trial period.
